Dr. Shawn Barillaro was born and raised in Meriden, Connecticut. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Connecticut, he earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. He has completed extensive clinical training in geriatrics, ocular disease, low vision, and primary care. He also completed a one-year residency in Ocular Disease with a specialization in Retina and Glaucoma Care at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Manchester, NH. Dr. Barillaro’s approach to eye care is largely inspired by his grandmother, who developed life-limiting low vision due to macular degeneration. He treats every patient as if they were a member of his own family and has a special interest in treating persistent dry eye. In his free time, Dr. Barillaro enjoys visiting beaches, roller skating, playing video games and board games, caring for reptiles, and more.
